Grinding or shot-blasting the concrete is the most important part of the process, the main purpose is to create a profile on the substrate that would allow the resins to get deeper into the concrete providing a strong bond. Power wash, acid wash, sanding or scrubbing alone are not going to get the profile that you’re looking for, it requires mechanical grinding with the right tools and vacuum attachments that helps clean the surface and remove contaminants. The number one problem associated to epoxy peeling is a poor prep work.
